Check out the Witchblade Wikia. It has real indepth info about the comics.
Witchblade is a comic book series published by Top Cow Productions, an imprint of Image Comics, from 1995 until present. The series was created by Top Cow editors Marc Silvestri and David Wohl, writer Brian Haberlin, and artist Michael Turner
The series stars Sara Pezzini, a tough-as-nails NYPD homicide detective who comes into possession of the Witchblade, a supernatural, sentient artifact with immense destructive and protective powers. The weapon has bonded with various women throughout history, including Cleopatra and Joan of Arc. Sara struggles to hone the awesome powers of the Witchblade and fend off those with a nefarious interest in it, especially entrepreneur Kenneth Irons. She also struggles to maintain a personal life.

The title was written largely by Christina Z and edited by David Wohl. The series lost its appeal when the team split and there have been talks of a reunion even though it’s unclear if that will ever occur.

There have been many spin-off titles, which place the Witchblade in other times and settings. The character of Sara Pezzini was also featured in crossovers with characters from other franchises, including Lara Croft, JLA, and the X-Men’s Wolverine.

The entire thing can be located here : http://imagecomics.wikia.com/wiki/Witchblade

The Witchblade is an intelligent, ancient, and conscious weapon with extra-terrestrial origins and one of thirteen other weapons. It is the offspring of the universe’s opposing aspects, the Darkness and the Angelus (the dark and the light). A male aspect created to act as a balance, which must have a female as a host. The Witchblade was found in Greece by Kenneth Irons, but before he found it, it had had many wielders. When not in use, it can look like an ornate, jewel encrusted, right handed gauntlet. When wielded by an unworthy user, that person will lose their arm. It forms a symbiotic relationship with the host, who can hear the Witchblade. When used, it expands across the body of the wielder, shredding clothes and covering the body like an armour. The armour seems subjective depending on the level of threat. Faced against mortals, it will usually generate less armour than when faced against a demon of hell. This armour can form swords, other stabbing weapons, shields, and wings, enabling the wielder to fly. It may also become temperamental if it chooses not to be used.

IMAGE COMICS PREVIEW: WITCHBLADE #143

Witchblade comic related news :

Image Comics has released preview pages for Witchblade #143, written by Ron Marz. The issue hits stores March 23, 2011.
Tiamat, Part 4 of 4!Sara knows that it is always darkest before the dawn, but this time, the combined toll of the “War of the Witchblades,” the death of her sister Julie, the kidnapping of her daughter Hope, and now the relentless onslaught of the God-Queen Tiamat on New York may prove to be too much for even the bearer of the Balance to overcome.

With Patrick, and Kate trying to find a way to survive their spectral encounter, Patrick realizes that without the assistance of Vince, they might not make it out alive. Fighting his very nature as a officer of the law he lets Vince out of his handcuffs, to make him useful in their escape. Fleeing the confines of the massacred Police station, they make a break for the woods as the ghosts are in hot pursuit, they soon discover why Vince, claimed he was innocent of killing those people.

The story is good, the last Witchblade comic I read was about a decade ago, and the quality of writing was never this good. Even for missing out on the first part of this two part arc, the recap page caught me up to speed very well, and within the first five pages, I felt I knew who Detective Gleason was. I understood, and enjoyed the situation that he was in, fending off a swarming pack of ghosts with only a 9mm Glock, and not a Proton Pack in sight. The back-story for the featured ghost is well constructed, that of a Revolutionary War Loyalist to King George who was hung for his treachery.

Witchblade comic history.

In the Top Cow Universe, there are two opposing forces named The Darkness and The Angelus. The Darkness represented Chaos and Darkness while the Angelus represented Light and Order. Throughout the years they have been at war with each other and constantly try to kill the wielder of either the Darkness or the Angelus. However, the Darkness and Angelus had an offspring together. That offspring would be known as the Witchblade.

-

The Witchblade was created as a balance between the Darkness and the Angelus. The Witchblade is a male and it requires a female host. It first crashed like a meteorite on Earth near the beginning of when the Earth formed.

-

The Witchblade was soon discovered by Una, who would become the very first wielder of the Witchblade. The Witchblade would eventually have to change hosts as time went by. Eventually it would be discovered by Kenneth Irons in the present time, who had sought it for years and yearned to wield it. However, the Witchblade itself chooses who shall wield it’s power so it chose NYPD detective Sara Pezzini.

-
Since the Witchblade is male, it requires a female host. The Witchblade is the only one who decides who is worthy of
bonding with it. However, even if it has chosen the host, if the wielder becomes unworthy of the Witchblade, it will cut off their right arm. The Witchblade can revive the dead and also relive the previous experiences of its current wielder. While it is inactive, the Witchblade would look like a heavy jewel encrusted bracelet. It is worn on the right wrist. While active, it wraps itself around the host’s body while tearing up their clothing. It becomes a body armor and weapon at the same time.

-

The amount of armor that comes out of the Witchblade to protect the host will always depend on the level of threat. For example, if the host is fighting a mere mortal, there will be less armor wrapped around the host. But if the host is fighting enemies at the level of demons, it will form more armor to protect its host. The Witchblade can form many different types of weapons. It can form swords, shields, and wings. The Witchblade can also shoot energy blasts and other projectiles. Also it has the ability to shoot a whip-like chain that enables the user to climb. It is one of the 13 artifacts.

‘V.I.C.E.’ Comic Book Series To Get A Feature Film Adaptation

Jonah Hex as depicted in Batman: The Animated ...

Okay this does not carry much Witchblade news. More like mentioned on the article below. But your into the Witchblade comics. Have fun reading ;)

Cowboys & Aliens” producer Platinum Studios has been increasingly active the last few years with adaptations of their comic book-based properties, and today brings news of their latest acquisition: Top Cow Productions’ “V.I.C.E.”

Platinum has teamed up with “Jonah Hex” producer Andrew Lazar and Top Cow Productions to develop a feature film adaptation of the Top Cow miniseries, reports Deadline.

“V.I.C.E.” follows a group of delinquent teenagers who agree to join the FBI’s Critical Response Unit in exchange for cleared-up criminal records. The teens happen to have superpowers, which they put to good use in bringing down domestic terrorists and any superhuman threats.

The miniseries, created by Top Cow president Matt Hawkins, debuted in late 2005 and ran for five issues. Hawkins and Top Cow founder Marc Silvestri will executive produce with Randy Greenberg, and Lazar will produce alongside Platinum CEO Scott Mitchell Rosenberg.

Top Cow has been slowly ramping up efforts to bring its comics to other mediums of entertainment in recent years. For example, there have been multiple multimedia treatments of their “Witchblade” series over the last few years. A TV series launched in 2000 on TNT, running for two 12-episode seasons before it was ultimately canceled, and an anime series from GONZO followed in 2006, telling an all-new story that fits into the series’ canon. A “Witchblade” feature film is also in development, which will be “very different from the book,” as Hawkins told Splash Page in 2009.

Top Cow series “The Darkness” also went multimedia with a successful Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 video game release from Starbreeze Entertainment, the same folks who did the great “Chronicles of Riddick” games. A film adaptation of the series was planned as far back as 2004 when Dimension Films picked up the rights, but there’s been little movement on that front in the time since.

Told ya not much todo with Witchblade. Still cool about that movie and mini series.
